S.M.S.P Sanskrit College’s principal Dr. N Laxminarayan Bhat has retired from the service and handed over the authority to new principal Prof. Haridas Bhat. Haridas Bhat, who took the authority is vidvan in Jouthisha, has decided to dedicate his service to the college's over-all development.
The Chief Minister Shri B. S. Yediyurappa and honorable Minister Shrinivas Poojari approved the grant of Rs. 25 lakhs for S.M.S.P Sanskrit College’s renovation project today. Assistant Director of the corresponding department of Udupi, Shri Ganesh Rao handed over the cheque to S.M.S.P Sabha’s secretary Shri Devanand Upadhyaya and former principal Dr. N. Laxminarayan Bhat. An old student of the institute, social worker Vasudeva Bhat perampalli was present. The institution has sincerely thanked Shri Yeddyurappa and Sri Kota Srinivasa Poojary for providing the grant.
The Chancellor of the Karnataka Sanskrit University, Prof. K.E. Devanathan visited Udupi Sanskrit College for the first time and spoke on the importance of Nyayashastra held by college’s Kavyashastra parishith. Prior to that, he inaugurated the college's renewed Jouthisha Agama exhibition . The Principal of the college, Prof. Haridas bhat presided over the function. Retired Principal, Dr. N. Lakshminarayan bhat, secretary of S.M.S.P Sabha Shri Devananda Upadhyaya, Treasurer Shri Chandrashekhar Acharya, Retired Librarian of the college Harikrishna Rao were present. At Shree Krishna Math’s Rajangana’s Naraharithirtha Forum, Paryaya Shree Admaru Matha’s Shree Eeshapriya Theertha Swamiji and Shree Palimaru Matha’s Shree Vidhyadheesha Theertha Swamiji feliciatated the principal of S.M.S.P College, Dr. N. Laxminarayana Bhat, who is retiring. The congratulatory address was delivered by Shri Katil temple’s Harinarayana Dasa Asarna and Aagama scholar Panja Bhaskar Bhat. The Lakshminarayana Bhattas, who received the felicitation in front of Swamiji, said that this is not felicitation but blessings given to him. As per Karnataka government and Sanskrit University's order to provide Covid Vaccine to all the staff and students, first dose of Covid Vaccine was given to all the staff and students on 09-07-2021 which began around 10.00 am and lasted until 1.00 pm with the co-operation of Primary Health Center and under the leadership of Dr. Hemanth. Doctor and health nurses were given token of gratitude on behalf of the College.
A poem-narration program was conducted on 8th march 2021 by the Vidhvan Kumbhasi Sripathi Upadhyaya conducted by Kavyashastra Parishat. The discourse was conducted by Vidhvan Kumbhasi Sripathi Upadhyaya and the recitation was conducted by Vidwan Ganapathi Bhat, Udupi Sri Madhava Upadhyaya in Tabala and Kumari Dhanashree Shabaraya in Violin. The program was attended by secretary of S.M.S.P Sabha Mr. Devananda Upadhyaya, , Principal Dr. N. Lakshminarayana Bhat, Secretary of the Poetry Council Haridas Bhat, the lectureres of the college and the students were present.
Sri Sri Subudhendra Theertha Swamiji of Mantralaya Shri Raghavendra Math visited the college on 25th February 2021. He was very excited to find a refurbishment of the college. He praised the development of the college. Also, he assured that in the future, he and shri math would cooperate in all the way for the development of the college. On this occasion, secretary of S.M.S.P Sabha Mr. Devananda Upadhyaya, Treasurer Chandrasekhar Acharya, Principal Dr. Sri Lakshminarayana Bhat and the faculty and students of the college were blessed with a fruitful life.
On Saturday, February 6th, the webinar program was successfully conducted by the astrology department on the topic 'Devaprashnachintanam'. In this program, is Sri Sri Vidyadhisha Theertha Swamij were president and Counselor of university Prof. Kotresh was a main guest. Member of S.M.S.P Sabha and an astrologer Vidvan Gopalakrishna jois, gave a lecture on the webinar topic.
It is always said that you should not accept any ideas blindly in philosophy. It is the opinion of our ancestors that we should reasonably admit it. Sri Sri Vishva Prasanna Tirtha Swamiji of the Pejavara Math, therefore, conveyed that it is worthy to have the same vision in the case of Dwaitha Adwaitha etc., He was the president of the webinar on the topic 'Maththrayaprathipaditam mokshasvarupam ‘ organized by our college.

Dr. Anandathirtha Nagasampi, Director of the Poornaprajna, Bangalore, participated as the keynote speaker. He perfectly delineated the essence of the Advaita,Dvaita and Vishisthadvaita.

Professor of the Sanskrit University of Tirupati . Dr. A. Sripada Bhat spoke and gave a glimpse of the Guru Saturn's Grahayati. This time, on December 21, the monochromatic phenomenon was the most rare event to occur in 60 years. One of the main guests of the college was the professor of the college N. Lakshminarayana Bhatt , S.M.S.P Sabha member Shri Devananda Upadhyaya, and Vidwan Bailor Narayana Tantri.

From 21st October to 24th October , until the day of Vijayadashami, four days of worship is being held in the college every year. The pooja conducted by Vidwan Vagisha Bhat , was attended by the faculty and non-teaching staff of the college.
Under the auspices event of Sri Krishna Janmashtami , Sri Pejavara Math and Forest Department, the NSS division of our college distributed about 2,500 bilberry plants. There was a feeling that nobody could take the plant away because there was no room for planting in the city center. Yet the show received unprecedented recognition. The first 2,000 plants were completely emptied in one and a half days and 500 plants were brought back, according to popular demand.
The planting program was organized on july 17th under the auspices of the Udupi-Kundapur Division of the Forest Department and the Udupi Civil Service Committee of the Forest Department. The meeting was attended by Shri Devananda Upadhyaya, secretary of the assembly and Shri Chandrasekhar Acharya, treasurer.
The event was attended by members of the congregation, faculty, alumni and a handful of students. The Secretaries of the Civil Service Committee were congratulated.
On july 2nd , the new computer lab inaugurated by Sri Sri Vishwa Prasanna Teertha Swamiji , which was build under the sponsorship of Canara (Syndicate) Bank. Addressing the gathering, the Swamiji expressed his appreciation towards bank's contribution to our college.
The honorable Mr. Bhaskara Hande, DGM at Manipal Divisional Secretariat, was the guest of honor. He blessed students saying may Sanskrit students who wish to have a computer knowledge, learn the computer and advance with everyone in today's society. The Principal of the college, addressing the gathering , asserted the need for a computer lab. Professor Shanmukha Hebbar readed a thank you note.
